Private Classes

Columbus Glass Art Center – a unique and affordable place where your next event can become a memorable experience.

Don’t just have another meeting with a standard agenda, slides and other visual aids, and the fun of taking meeting minutes. Why settle for “the usual” when you can make your next meeting, conference, corporate outing or party an “experience?” Come in and make your own glass piece.

Celebrate your team’s latest and greatest accomplishments, the founding of your organization, a colleague’s retirement or promotion, or having the next great scientific discovery named after you – at Columbus Glass Art Center! We are a glass art and glass-blowing studio in the historic section of Franklinton in West Columbus. We will help you customize the setting and activities to meet your needs and goals.  Take a group break and visit our gallery and gift shop to see gorgeous glass art, hand crafted by our member artists, up close and personal. Finish off your meeting with a group lesson in the glass art of your choice or watch a live glass blowing demonstration by one of our artists. Most of our First Experience classes are available; attendance minimums apply. Some classes are not available for larger groups.

All private classes will be charged by the object and the object must be decided before the class is scheduled. An approximate length of time will be allotted for your private class, but we might not need the whole time if the glass is being cooperative that day.

Private classes longer than 3 hours will have a 20 min break for the instructor halfway through the class. Larger groups will have a second instructor added for $25 hourly. All classes have time included for a demo from the instructor.

Are you interested in setting up a very exclusive one-on-one class? One of our artists will work with you to learn the basics handskills of glassblowing. Objects made during this time will vary based on skill level and goals of the student; not every session will end in a finished masterpiece. This private learning experience is $150/hr with a two-hour minimum. This is a great option for those wanting to take Hot 1 but are unable to attend a regular, weekly scheduled Series Class.

During our busiest season from September through December, we suggest that you book 4-6 weeks in advance of your potential event to make sure there is availability. All items made during class can be picked up 7 days after the event.

Before you continue, please understand that we schedule at least two weeks in advance. Please also have some possible dates ready. If you're ready, complete the information form below and we will contact you to refine the details, or call us at 614-291-4250.

Wanting to Turn up the Heat?

We have many options for learning in the Hot Shop and Torch Areas!

Our single day and series classes are taught by talented local glass artists who provide guided instruction while demonstrating safe and effective studio practices. For our summer intensive classes, we invite instructors from around the world to teach a very specific glassmaking technique which allows you to build your own glass skills.

Unless otherwise stated, we welcome students at least 10 years of age or older to participate in any of our classes. An adult must accompany children under 18 years old.

Once cooled, your art is ready for pick up 7 days after your class or may be shipped for an additional fee within the US and Canada.

About Our Classes

At the Columbus Glass Art Center, our mission is to celebrate the art and science of glass. Our favorite way to celebrate is through our classes. Through our hands on classes, we teach about the vibrant versatility and the many different ways of working with glass.

Explore our many class options including our most popular one-hour glassmaking classes. These classes are a great introduction to a specific glass method. When you’re ready for more, we have our series classes, lasting from 4-6 weeks, that take you deeper into working with glass. For our working glass artists, we offer an annual variety of summer intensive classes, which takes participants through an in-depth experience in a specialized  glassmaking skill.
